Dr El Khoury is a senior British Lebanese Consultant Psychiatrist and a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) with 20+ years’ experience in the treatment of all adult psychiatric disorders.
He has trained and worked in the public and private sectors in the United Kingdom (NHS), Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates. He has several clinical and academic interests, having been involved in founding and managing specialist multidisciplinary clinical services for mood and psychotic disorders.
He has authored over 70 academic publications on general psychiatry, substance misuse, trauma and conflict medicine. He is active in research, teaching, public speaking and consultancy regionally and internationally.
After 6 years in a faculty position at the American University of Beirut Medical center he moved to the UAE in 2021 as founding chief of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at the American Hospital Dubai.
He is co-founder and Medical Director of the Valens Clinic in Dubai since 2023. He is also adjunct assistant professor of psychiatry at United Arab Emirates University.
